Conductor- Richard Price

Accompanist - Caroline Davies

Music has been a large part of Caroline's life from an early age.  She spent her formative years playing oboe in the various ensembles within what is now the Gwent Music Support Service before going on to study music at Birmingham University.

She accompanied Pontypool Male Choir for many years before joining forces with Richard to establish Cantorion Sanctaidd.  She is now looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead!

Richard started singing at the age of 8 when he joined St Hilda’s church choir. He progressed through the ranks of team leader and then head chorister until his voice broke and he joined the tenor section.

In 2003 he was given the opportunity to be deputy musical director of Pontypool Male Choir and a few months later he took over as MD.

Richard put the idea of forming Cantorion Sanctaidd to Caroline and the two have worked together to get the choir up and running and look forward to many more years of making music together.

Cantorion Sanctaidd is a sacred music choir that formed in January 2013.  We are based in Newport and draw c.25 choristers from across South Wales – currently our choristers cover an area from Cardiff to Chepstow, and from Newport up to Pontypool.  We perform a repertoire of short and accessible sacred works that we can stage as a full concert or include in weddings and church services.  We select music that we find spiritually inspiring as well as musically exciting, and we hope that our audiences enjoy it as much as we do!
